Dr Ifeoma Monye, MD, FRCGP, FACLM, DipIBLM/BSLM, is a Fellow of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners, UK, a Portfolio NHS GP, founding member and Regional Director of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine, Chief Consultant Family Physician, National Hospital, Abuja, Nigeria, an alumnus of the “Women Transforming Leadership”, SAID Business school, University of Oxford, founder of the Brookfield Centre for Lifestyle Medicine, and founder and President of the Society of Lifestyle Medicine of Nigeria.

An alumnus of the University of Benin College of Medicine, Benin-City, Nigeria, Dr Monye is passionate about Lifestyle Medicine education in schools, universities and post-graduate colleges. In 2019, she brought the first and still the only international board certification examination in Lifestyle Medicine to the shores of Africa, by leading the effort to establish this examination in Nigeria through the Society of Lifestyle Medicine of Nigeria. Dr Monye has dedicated her life to the clinical practice and teaching of Lifestyle Medicine, as well as spreading awareness of this new specialty, bringing it to equal footing with other medical specialties.

Dr Monye, is a member of the Advisory Council of the International Virtual Group Consultations, member of the Advisory Council of the Global Positive Health Institute and expert member of the Health and Nutrition Technical Working Group of the Nigeria Development Plan-Agenda 2020-2050.

Dr Monye, a published author, serves on the Editorial Boards of both the International Journal of Disease Reversal and Prevention-Incorporating the International Journal of Lifestyle Medicine, and the Lifestyle Medicine Journal. She is a reviewer for the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine and the lead author in the recently published textbook in Lifestyle Medicine, “Lifestyle Medicine: Essential MCQs For Certification in Lifestyle Medicine”, published by WILEY Blackwell.
